This January, a new monthly National Trust trail run was introduced at Coleton Fishacre near Kingswear. The event is held on the fourth Sunday of every month and this month’s run falls on Mother’s Day.
The charity has created a series of 10k routes at a selection of places across the UK to encourage people to get outdoors and take up a new challenge. It also offers all who take part a unique opportunity to explore their places for free.
For those looking for something different to do with their mum, a Trust10 run at Coleton Fishacre could be perfect. The team have devised a two-loop 5k route, which will allow runners to take in the both the rugged coastline and exotic garden.
Tim Bumby, Lead Ranger for the National Trust English Riviera said: ‘Runners at February’s Trust10 were rewarded with views of porpoises and peregrine falcons while they ran. The route is steep in places but worth the effort for the views. You can stop after one loop if you’d rather run 5k; and the café will be open serving drinks and cakes, so you can treat yourself and your mum after you run.’
The Mother’s Day Trust10s at Coleton Fishacre take place at 9am on Sunday 26 March.
Registration begins at 8.30am, and the run is free. For more information visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/coleton-fishacre or call 01803 842382.
