P1’s extensive, international race programme gets underway next month when the P1 AquaX UK series heads to Torquay on the English Riviera for a weekend of fast, furious and free-to-watch jet ski racing.
More than 30 riders will begin their battle for national honours in Tor Bay over the weekend of 14/15 April and spectators at Haldon Pier will be entertained by 15 races featuring both Endurance and Sprint classes.
Outstanding event arena
Global Head of P1 AquaX, Lisa Barsby, herself a former world champion jet skier, said: “Torquay is an outstanding event arena, with its superb sea views and busy harbour creating a great atmosphere for both racers and spectators. We have staged successful events there in previous years, including the series finale last year, and again hope to see crowds lining the harbour wall.”
Tor Bay Deputy Harbour Master, Nick Burns is pleased to be welcoming back the P1 AquaX competitors: “Having hosted this national race series before, we are confident that the event will attract spectators to the harbourside and the podium celebrations on the pier on Sunday afternoon are always a great way to end the weekend.”
P1’s race schedule this year will see the international promoter stage 19 events in 7 countries from April through to November.
Immensely exciting season
“It’s going to be a challenging but immensely exciting season as we return to some favourite locations and partner with new host venues” added Barsby.
“We have an expanded programme of jet ski racing across the summer that we believe will grow competitor numbers.
“In the seven years since its launch, P1 AquaX has made a natural progression from the opening race season in the UK in 2011 to the series expanding to the USA in 2013 and then into mainland Europe last year.”
The race schedule in Torquay will kick off with practice at 1pm on Saturday followed by three races. Sunday will see a full day of racing starting at 10.30am, with the podium presentations at 3.30pm.
