Teignmouth and Dawlish have joined the rest of Teignbridge car parks in being free on Sundays.
Problem parking at primary schools in Teignmouth is being helped thanks to new rules to enforce restrictions on yellow zig-zags.
On Sunday, May 20 2012, over 7,000 people lined the streets of Shaldon and Teignmouth to see the Olympic Torch’s historic crossing of the Teign Estuary on only its second day on British soil.
Teingmouth’s hometown heroes Muse were surprise guest Torchbearers on the day, delighting the crowds. They’ve since been confirmed as providing the official theme for the Games, the song Survival from their forthcoming album The 2nd Law.
People in Kingsteignton and Shaldon in South Devon are already benefitting from new free walking groups launched as part of Teignbridge Council’s Walk This Way scheme, with another set to follow.
The Olympic Flame will be in Teignbridge during its official relay to London.
On Sunday 20 May 2012 – only the second day of its journey around the country – the Olympic Flame will reach Teignbridge.
Torchbearers will carry the Olympic Flame in Teignmouth, which will host a welcome on behalf of the district.
Full details of the relay and local celebrations will be announced closer to the time, inviting people from across the area to welcome the Olympic Flame.
