Nick Harvey MP has welcomed an announcement today of extra money for the country’s poorest-funded schools.
Nick Harvey, MP for North Devon, has today called on the Government to bring forward proposed reforms to the way schools are funded as soon as possible.
The £50m summer schools fund designed to help up to 100,000 of the most disadvantaged pupils with the transition from primary to secondary school has opened for applications.
Free early education will be extended to 140,000 disadvantaged two-year- olds, and parents will be able to access the free entitlement more flexibly, under plans published by the Government.
North Devon MP Nick Harvey has called for Government investment in Ilfracombe, Chulmleigh and Pilton colleges, following the announcement in the Comprehensive Spending Review that £15.8billion is to be spent on 600 schools that lost out on the cancelled Building Schools for the Future programme.
