More than 60 secondary school students from across Devon will discuss waste and recycling in the county at a Waste Summit on Thursday, March 17.
Plymouth City Council’s regeneration team is working with housing association Affinity Sutton and residents on a campaign to improve recycling rates in the area. On Saturday, March 12 there will be games and prizes with a recycling theme and a dog show to promote responsible dog ownership.
Households in Exeter are being asked to look out for the Recycling Tin Man as the city council starts informing residents about forthcoming changes to the refuse and recycling collection scheme.
Mid Devon’s kerbside recycling service has had a smooth transfer to Mid Devon District Council control. Staff from the former contractor, Mid Devon Community Recycling, transferred in February and they have made sure the service continued with no disruption to householders. The volunteers with learning disabilities who were helping with recycling are now working with the Tiverton Town Council in keeping Tiverton town centre clean and tidy.
Devon Wildlife Trust is running its first Milling Day of the year at its Cricklepit Mill home on Exeter’s quayside on Saturday, March 13 from 1pm until 5pm to tie in with the Festival of Social Science. The aim of the event is to give people an exclusive look at a grist mill in full working order right in the heart of the city.
